Movie Night:
Ancient Futures - Learning from Ladakh
Saturday, March 30
Please join us for a free showing of Ancient Futures - Learning from Ladakh, a documentary following the experience of the people of Ladakh, whose ancient life ways changed as western influences were allowed into the country. The first part of the movie depicts the traditional world of the Ladakhi people, in which families work together (all generations!) to produce food, build homes, and honor spiritual practices. Later, we see things change rapidly, as modern consumer goods become available and people take jobs in cities. The "progress" of Ladakh traces changes made in our own society, but in a much shorter time frame, placing disconnective trends into sharp relief. There's much we can learn from Ladakh!
